A Classic and contemporary sculptor and designer born, 1964. A brilliant reclusive, Abbott’s work is rarely seen on the market with the majority of his work having been private commission. For many years he has worked mainly in bronze and 24-karat gold. He primarily sculpts his pieces in clay then casts them in bronze and gold. He tends to produce small numbers of editions, usually six or eight at a time. Up until a few years ago, he specialized in large full-size sculptures for private commissions. He produced a large collection of Greek God sculptures including one of a Centaur finished in lost wax bronze, which took over six years to complete. Within the same period, Abbott was approached by the Colonial African Wildlife Preservation Society. They commissioned him to produce a collection of full-size African game animals, including a lion and a cheetah.
